## Dignity, Privacy and the Bathroom Fall

*The room with the hardest, slipperiest surfaces is often the one with the least equipment in it.*

Most falls prevention equipment is built around the bed and the chair. Bed pads, chair pads, floor mats, monitors. Beds and chairs are a sensible place to concentrate, because that is where an unwell or elderly person spends a great deal of time.

But look at where a bathroom fall actually happens. Hard tiles, wet floor, a confined space with fixtures at head height, and a transfer on and off the toilet that asks a lot of someone with poor balance. Usually at night. Usually alone. Almost always with the door shut.

The bathroom is the one room in the building that is usually unobserved, and rightly so. Toileting and showering are as private as care gets, and dignity is not just a courtesy under the strengthened Quality Standards. It is an expectation.

So a safety solution in a bathroom is not more observation. It is making sure the client can call for help from where they are.

#### Two products, two systems

We make waterproof callpoints for both of our cordless systems - standard Cordless & Long Range Call System (LRCS), and the right choice depends on what system the customer already has rather than the callpoint itself.

**Works with cura1 LRCS**

The 2507 can pair with a wireless Overdoor Light, and forms part of a comprehensive nurse call system. LRCS can send alarm messages to pagers, annunciators and via SMS.

This suits larger facilities and multi-building sites.

**Works with cura1 Cordless monitors**

The 2558 can pair with a wireless Overdoor Light and Cordless monitors which can operate stand-alone or plug directly into a room's nurse call point.

Suits home use, single rooms, smaller facilities and retrofits.

Both are IP65 rated, battery powered (replaceable) with no mains power needed in a wet area, and fully wireless, so there is no structural cabling, no chasing through a tiled wall, and no contractors required. In an occupied building that difference is usually what decides whether a job goes ahead or not.
